Order of Operations
It is important to know your order of operations when doing algebra. It does not matter which order the question is in, you always do brackets first and subtraction last.
Incorrect Way
This example here is wrong. Just because the first part of this equation is 4+5, you don't do 4+5. You must follow the order of operations. The correct way is shown in the example below.
Correct Way
Using BEDMAS, you can tell you have to do brackets first in the equation, even if it is the last part of it. In BEDMAS, it doesn't matter if you do addition or subtraction first (as long as it is not in a bracket) or multiplication or division first.
